The book by Rosamund Young, owner of Kite's Nest Farm, famous throughout England, translated into 18 languages and awarded the title of "A Times Book of the Year 2017", is a heartfelt story about a world hitherto mysterious to most people - the glorious, the life full of adventures and emotional experiences and everyday life on the farm, which is also home to various domestic animals, as if well known to the Latvian reader. A story about cows' wisdom, different personalities, habits and wonderful relationships with each other. About the habits of pigs, horses, poultry and other animals and the opportunities that man can give them by having a pleasant experience himself.
The introduction by Ingmārs Līdakas, which is an emotional and deeply personal look back at the not-so-old everyday life of rural Latvians, slowly brings the reader into the atmosphere of the book. It is not full of sharp plot twists, unless you count bulls peeping through the forehead as such, but it is a rhythmic and meaningful depiction of life on a large farm. A herd of inbred cows is just one, albeit central, character in the book, but it's equally fascinating to learn about the daily routines, relationships, and tricks of the pigs, sheep, and chickens.
The book will be not only an interesting trip to the farm, but also a useful source of information and valuable knowledge for children, teenagers, their parents and educators.
